Caffeine pops up all over the plant family tree, but its biochemistry is a pretty straight forward modification of a nucleobase. Very useful for keeping those worker bees pollinating if you put a little into your nectar, or to get caterpillars marching to their doom if you put higher doses in your leaves.

So cool. What about cocoa? Im seeing a lot of posts about roasting and grinding linden nuts to substitute for cocoa.

Good question. We can have the same taste but not necessarily the same physiological effects on the human body or the insect. In the case of this article, both these things are true.
